Today we bring you a wonderful wedding: an Indian wedding in the heart of New York (by the way let anything within the city of skyscrapers and safe are thousands of ideas and trends that surprise you).
Divide this link in two innings, as well as having lots of pictures and information to tell you, we wanted to go a little further and share with you all that is behind a Hindu wedding: its traditions, rituals, parts of the ceremony, costumes and lots of things that are sure you will love.
As mentioned, the Hindu weddings have various rituals and usually last two to three days. The first is the Menhdi. The Menhdi is the ritual during which the bride is tattooed with henna, a natural plant that usually lasts on the skin two to three weeks. Formerly the henna replaced the jewels of the less affluent women on their wedding day, but over time the tradition took hold and today is one of the most important moments for any bride. The drawings as they choose have their own meanings and often hide behind them different legends and myths, as the intensity of the color symbolizes a strong link between the bride and the groom's mother
Some of the meanings of Mendhi are
Flowers: joy, happiness
Zig zag pattern: fertility
Peacock: Beauty
Snakes seekers lighting.
That same day Menhdi (the pre-ceremony) and at night the sangeet occurs. The sangeet is a party full of color, music and joy in which the couple goodbye to his bachelorhood and traditional dances of India are the protagonists. The guests show their choreography to the couple as a tribute and they also participate.
All women wear saris, the traditional dress of India for women is a long fabric, usually silk seamless wrapping the body of every woman adapting to it. They are very bright colors and usually wear silver and gold threads.
Often relatives and friends of the bride, also tattooed during the sangeet, but never subtracted prominence to the bride and not the feet and legs tattooed as make them.
It is very difficult to see these beautiful, full of color and decorative motifs of Hindu and believe that the wedding took place in New York images, but word ... The banquet was held at the Brooklyn Museum, but that and the ceremony laden details we tell you tomorrow.
